Kindergarten Classroom by IBUKU
What it's about
This creative classroom takes open transparent design to a new level. Bamboo structure taking form in a naturalistic network commemorates the importance of connectivity to the environment by excluding traditional building partitions.
Why it matters
Clear sight lines and connected nodes of interest can free a patron's curiosity in a new place. Designing classrooms to facilitate open expression can lead to accentuated growth in youthful minds. How can transparent design evolve our conscious?

Google HQ by Ingenhoven
What it's about
This campus excludes vehicles and embraces futuristic ambitions in personal technology and built form alike. This massive complex is LEED platinum certified and a true testament to the power of green design for campuses teaching upcoming world leaders. During my time at Ball State, I recognized the power walkable design can have towards creating meaningful engagements between people. I believe that planning for more walkable communities in the future will benefit societal issues such as mental health and obesity.

Parasitic Pods by Framlab
What it's about
This daring initiative imagines purposeless New York facades filled with improvised tiny homes for the city's growing homeless population. With real-estate prices in mega-cities reaching all time highs, designers are focusing on maximizing space usage.
Why it matters
I have a special interest in projects serving the economically strained in this new Global economy. My involvement in CRIPE's design competition for tiny homes for the homeless provided me insight into the extreme need for reintegrating disenfranchised people into society. This is especially true as advanced automation and Global trade initiatives strain jobs in all sectors of the economy.

O-Pod Homes by James Law Cybertecture
What it's about
These low cost living pods adapt old waterline concrete tubes into affordable housing for students living in dense urban environments. The adaptability of these modular units allows various configurations for communal living.
Why it matters
In the same spirit of the post above, this design imagines more efficient space usage in the dense urban environment of Hong Kong. I can imagine other configurations that could support vegetation pods intermixed within the living fabric of spaces.

Rainbow Installation by Emmanuelle Moureaux
What it's about
Sometimes, a good design evolves from the repetition of simple elements in a meaningful progression. One could walk through the encapsulating atmosphere created by surrounding artwork and feel transient as they traverse the confines of the volume. The statement about time and progression in this work is strikingly omnipresent.

Thematic Design in Action
Washington Redskins Stadium by BIG
What it's about
This astounding stadium design strives to provide added purpose to tax-subsidized construction through various year-round applications. For example, during the Summer months, this stadium provides public pools, a rock climbing wall, and landscaping fit for recreational sports
Why it matters
Stadiums have traditionally provided services to their surrounding communities during the NFL's off season, but this design exceeds the standard. Since these stadiums are often heavily subsidized by tax money, its critical for their spaces to be adaptable for the leisure of the people who support them.
