Why it matters
This site's emphasis on place-making ultimately makes the other programmatic goals of this facility stronger as people are drawn to its unique environment. How can buildings use integrated site design to promote the value of the programming in its interior?

What it's about
This church proposal in Haiti draws on cultural cues and traditional construction practices of the region to devise a building that symbolically reflects the strength of its host country's people through its woven form.
Why it matters
Architecture should always strive to use materials and construction processes that are respective to the host culture. How can structure and cladding elements be chosen and adapted through form manipulations to tell a larger story behind the programming of the edifice?

What it's about
This park in Switzerland uses over 30,000 meters of tension cables between a space frame structure to allow for expansive vertical gardens.
Why it matters
As humanity continues to consolidate in urban areas, architects will need to find new ways to integrate nature into our habitats. Vertical farms and parks are a viable solution for providing greenery to dense urban populations. This application for growing food is especially interesting to me as the market sector for urban farms will only grow as Climate Change and difficult transportation logistics make it necessary to grow food within the confines of these population centers.

This stadium design used parametric design tools like Grasshopper for Rhino to create an interesting superstructure that uses less material than traditional framing alternates.
Why it matters
New design tools that use parametric design tools to create patterns of efficiency in design also allow for beautiful rhythmic compositions that are respective of futuristic structures.

This net zero energy and water usage facility provides an interesting place for the public to explore architecture that's intimately connected to nature through design and environmental impact. The vertical rise of this facility allows for various panoramic view opportunities to the surrounding forest.
Why it matters
Architecture integrated into nature is important for a future filled with human-centric habitats. A combination of sustainable materials and building systems allows the general public to explore the wonder behind buildings that are respective of our role in this planet's ecosystem.

Quba House by EAHR
What it's about
This refugee relief housing typology was developed as a shelter solution for Syrian citizens escaping war-torn regions to a near by intermediate Jordanian province. Extremely simplistic "Super Adobe" construction schemes were used to develop structures respective of the harsh environment and limited financial stability in these makeshift communities.
Why it matters
As Climate Change and Global economic destabilization continues in the future, more housing strategies will need to be developed for refugees with cost and availability of materials in mind. This phenomenon is wide spread, so the solutions for these dilemmas must be customized depending on the specific needs of individualistic cultures based on concerns for human rights.
